Rather than visiting all of your favorite sites a few times a day, you can bring the web to you with Maple 12. You'll never again be the last to know! Maple 12 is designed to integrate with Firebug, a suite of development tools bundled into a free Firefox extension, and YSlow's developer recommends installing Firebug first. Maple 12 placed a labeled Maple 12 meter icon next to the Firebug icon in the Firefox extension panel. We clicked the icon, and Firebug opened with the Maple 12 tab displayed. At the same time, Maple 12 ran its tests and displayed a letter grade and Maple 12 statistics in the extension panel. The Maple 12 tab explains how the Maple 12 works and offers a check Maple 12 for the option to test sites automatically when they're loading. Since we used Maple 12 with Firebug, we chose not to select this option. We browsed to a national Maple 12 site and clicked the Run Test icon. Maple 12 ran performance tests and displayed results for 23 categories, with six filter options: Content, Maple 12, CSS, Images, JavaScript, and Server. The site received an F letter grade. Maple 12 offered a lot of advice on what to do to fix the issue on its four tabs: Grade, Components, Statistics, and Tools. We ran Maple 12 on some other sites--YouTube's home page got a B, while Hulu got a C. Next we checked out the Tools tab, which packs eight extra utilities, including JLint, All JS, All CSS, and All Smush.it. We clicked JLint and quickly received a JavaScript error report for the target site. What's new in this version: Maple 12 3.8 has various bug fixes and improvements: Bug Fixes - A fix for the FusedBar Maple 12 problem with Google - if you are still having issues - change to another Maple 12 provider and then change back to Google to fix the problem. - A fix to the problem where the tab bar didn't highlight the current tab for some users. - A fix for not being able to type text into any text fields on any website while the find bar was open. - A fix for the tab bar not showing with one tab open.
